I'm beginning to wonder if there is anything Mike cannot do.
This past weekend, he embarked on another home project, this time in our master bedroom. And I have to say I like it very much :)
we had seen this idea done in a few model homes we visited, and it's essentially wood flooring on the wall. We bought some wood flooring from Ikea and chose a pattern and color that was as natural as we could get it without looking too artificial.
a few weekends prior to this one, he painted 3 of the 4 walls a nice, relaxing gray. I always wanted a gray room when we moved in, but opted for a light blue instead. After seeing model homes, we felt the kick to change things up a bit. I really like the gray.
it took Mike most of Sunday to do the wall, and A LOT of sweat and stair climbing. The saw and wood were all in the garage, so you can say his legs got quite the workout. There is still a small strip along the bottom that needs to be finished, but Mike needed a table saw to make cutting a lot easier. Home Depot could've done it for him in the blink of an eye, but their saw was broken.
ta-da! I think it looks great! gives the room more depth, more dimension and not to mention some character! We are thinking of mounting a giant moose head above our bed (which now has no headboard) or a gallery of photos in frames.
Nice job Mike!
and to reward him for his hard work, Keira and I took him out for dinner Sunday night. I let Keira choose where we went, and she said Red Robin. We must've all been hungry because there was not one crumb of food left on any of our plates. We were both surprised Keira ate EVERYTHING.
I love easy breezey weekends :)
