September who?

September hasn't been such a good blogging month for me.  so on the last day of the month, here are some happy and not-so-happy things RIGHT NOW.

not-so-happy (might as well get it over with):

the slightly fat lip I am nursing thanks to a princess piano falling on my face. all the loud talking (aka yelling) I've been doing this morning. the headache that seems to come and visit me daily for the last few days.

HAPPY:

purple flowering plants outside one of our windows. they do well in this area because they aren't being trampled on.

iced tea from last night's post 12-hour shift Jack in the Crack food run. thank you Lois for starting the addiction!

Keira's artwork from school. and that's only some of it.

a successful attempt at peeing in the potty this morning. and no, the Maxims are not hers.

finally getting around to reading the last book.  loved the last and final movie, but sad its over.

napping children. hopefully there's two now, rather than one.

The little girl in the middle keeps surprising me.  Yesterday's preschool note said that she not only ate 2 servings of lunch (turkey and cheese sandwiches) but she also took a nap (for some reason, she hasn't been sleeping at school)!

This morning, while in the back of my mind I was hoping for another repeat of yesterday morning, I knew I shouldn't hold my breath.  well....

She did it again!!  She walked herself from the car to the classroom, commented on how pretty the flowers in the trees were, and chatted with me about the things going on in her little mind.  I swear I even saw a little spring in her step too!! I go to sign her in, and again, I find her not under my feet but sitting next to her teacher with all the other kids, reading a book!  Another wave and goodbye mama and I was off!

It makes my heart so happy and relieved to know that she is finally settling in.  My hopes that she will enjoy her time at school is finally here, and I can finally rest assured that she is truly okay.  Our girl is growing up :)

OMG, it's a big day!

I'm sitting in the parking lot of Keira's school and I can't leave. I'm in shock. I figured it would be a typical morning dropping Keira off at school, with the standard tears and crying that comes along. I carried her into her room (despite the fact that she has been getting better about walking), but still no crying. All the kids were sitting down at the table coloring and cutting paper. I thought I'd entice her to do the same, hoping to ease the pain. I put her down, go to sign her in and turn around to find her sitting down, in a chair, next to the teacher, getting her coloring on. Gasp. Not even a peep out of her. I even got a wave and a "bye mommy" from her. (insert tear drop here) Baby steps for my growing girl. I better wipe my face dry before I head off. Not really, but still.
