I have a new crafty project I'm about to start on and I can't wait. It's along the lines of Project Life, but I'm going to do it at my own pace.
I made it all the way through the holiday season with my version of the December Daily project, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I ordered my holiday mini album online, and went with more of a whenever, whereever approach than doing something on a daily basis. it just worked better for me that way. I still need to get photos of the finished album, and once I do, I'll get them posted for all (all 5 of you still reading this blog) to see.
as mentioned before, my cousin's crafty girlfriend Donna gave me an album for Christmas, along with some materials inside to get me started. I love that I have someone in the family to share all my craft endevours with :)
the album itself is a kraft covered, 6x8 inch, 3-ringed binder (she got it from Borders some time ago, so I'm not sure if it's still available). she filled it with a small mix of papers, transparencies and textiles. my pages will be no bigger than 5x7, and I do forsee some being smaller too.
I realized after the fact, that my pages are actually 6x8, not 5x7. my family picture shown below is 5x7. I'm such a nitwit.
here's my first page:
I've decided to make this our 2011 family album, and plan on starting each month with a picture of the three of us, ideally taken on the first of every month. This month's picture was taken by my dad on New Year's Day. I printed it in black and white at home, since the color version was a bit dark, and I didn't have software to lighten it up. I sewed the picture right onto the patterned paper (by 7Gypsies I think) and added a handcut star (Hambly) to the corner. I still need to add the month and year to the star, which I plan on doing with a typewriter.
I want to include a monthly calendar too, and since I'm not really savvy with making my own, I've been looking online for some I can print at home. This one, this one, this one and this one have caught my eye but the format of this calendar is what I have in mind. I'm just worried that it won't work in a 5x7 size.
I thought about including Keira's monthly birthday pictures (from the 7th of each month) but I already have another album going for that. I'll probably include a few odds and ends from things that we do and will most likely do some sort of monthly recap too. maybe a combo of words and pictures? not sure, but I know if I think about it too much, I'll end up hating the project and scrap the whole thing.
Lucky for me, a friend of mine just purchased her Project Life kit and I'm hoping that its something we can do "together" (Hi Robin!!). She wasn't sure she would be able to keep up, but I told her to just jump in and do it. It's better to have started and not finished than to have not done it at all. Imagine the memories that she would've not captured?!
here's to capturing 2011...I'm ready for the ride :)
We still follow your blog.....
