on Friday, we ventured out into San Francisco for the afternoon. my brother and his girlfriend came up Christmas night rather than the day after as planned, so the four of us hung out for the day. We started off having a Chinese breakfast at Daimo, which consisted of rice porridge, Chinese style donuts, won ton noodles and steamed pork dumplings. yum yum!
The drive out to the City was so nice, it was clear as clear could be. I tried to get a picture of both bridges (the Bay and the Golden Gate) and the city but it didn't work so well.
We parked at my mom's work in South of Market, since parking downtown cost about 2 arms and a leg, and walked a few blocks up. We stopped at the Metreon to see my cousin at the Play Station store, where she fed us some of the yummiest red velvet cake and other Christmas treats.
Hitting Union Square was next, and holy moly were there tons of people. I guess it should've been expected for the day after Christmas. I picked up a few last minute gifts, but that's about it.
the parents-to-be with the newlyweds. Teri and Reggie came downtown to meet us for a bite to eat. We caught up on baby stuff (since Teri hasn't seen me since July and I only had a tiny pudge belly back then) and heard all the details of their romantic wedding getaway. and dammit, I should've gotten a picture of Reggie's serious bling of a ring. He could put his hand in the air and be a lighthouse or the new Statue of Liberty.
We picked up my mom from work and headed out to Oakland for some Korean BBQ indulgence at Koryo Wooden Charcoal BBQ. rather than a hot plate to cook on, they gave us a mini charcoal grill.
We had chicken, pork and beef, jap chae (potato noodles) and all the little fixings. I ordered some tofu soup for myself, since I wasn't really into all that meat. We pretty much finished everything and it was only $80! and we left smelling like we bathed in bbq oil.
Tonight is the holiday get together with my family. Relatives from both my mom and my dad's side will be here, which I believe is a first. My mom is cooking right now as I type and the food will not disappoint. I think I'm gonna have to walk a few miles today to compensate for it too.
and yes, pictures to follow...
