so I've done my civil service for the year. I was the second group to get called in for jury selection and the actual process wasn't that bad. They herded us in like cattle into the courtroom, shut the doors and the judge walked in.
turns out the case is scheduled to last about 7 weeks. we didn't get specifics of the case, but were carefully warned that if we were chosen to serve, that we were not to find out more details on our own. otherwise we would end up on the witness stand rather than in a jury box. so they asked for volunteers first, those who would be willing and available to sit for the next 7 weeks. I think 10 people stood up. would you volunteer? I wouldn't!! heck no!
once those people were dismissed, the baliff came back in, all mighty and proud, and dismissed us. my service for the next 12 months is done.
and a quick note for my local foodies, Mike and I discovered another Yogurtland location, in Tustin. It's on Newport Ave and Bonita Street, across from Soup Plantation. not nearly as crowded as the Irvine location and much closer for us too. They're opening one across from UCI as well.
This week, I was cruelly reminded of how out of shape I currently am. I'm hoping maybe its just age or the act of marriage or something (but mostly likely due to sheer laziness), but there's a lot more jiggling going on than before. and get this. I'm supposed to run in the Mud Run next Sunday as part of an all-girls team. I can tell you now, I'm gonna be in major pain and soreness the next day (or maybe the next week)...it almost makes me throw up now just thinking about it. it's a 10K run, equivalent to 6.2 miles, with hills, tire obstacles, 5-foot walls, uphill hikes, and lots of mud. can I cry now please?
must finish up my breakfast of pad see ew, and join Mike in watching Saturday morning...fishing shows.
